With a focus on helping small business owners with their internet exposure MD Huset created a service they aptly named Telefonkatalogen (the phonebook). They wished to provide a brand and a service where Norwegians could easily find the best solution for whatever problem they might be facing.
In retrospect seeing as the image of the brand was not yet concrete and the specifications of said service were vague the designing of the logo was truthfully premature. The underlying concept changed several times during it's creation drawing out the project period more then was necessarry.
However, the orginal idea was to through the graphic describe the name. So besides from the mandatory lettering, the main focus was to combine the two words 'phone' and 'book'.
The project later developed into a service based more on the user finding the right business for their specific issue instead of simply cataloging the businesses themselves.
So in tune with that the focus of the branding also shifted towards a mindset of searching, finding and locating.
Ultimately the fusion of two specific modern graphics deemed the most poignant solution: a magnifying glass and a map marker.
When time came for the website design the concept was clear and concise. A search engine for the public, that doubles as a hub for the small business owners to easily show off their services in the form of a profile and keep track of their and other business' public financials
